Question about XD-45 Compact
I just called my Gun dealer and he said that hardly anybody wants the 45 Compact and that most people are going for the regular full size.
Why do you think that would be? Please help me make a decision. It's for home defense. -Thanks

I wanted the compact. Short grip for CC. Switch mags and you got the full grip.
Sounds like he's got a few full size he's trying to unload. |

Tell him you'll take the regular size off his hands for a decent discount...then do a grip chop. You both win.
Personally I wouldn't do much business with someone saying that with the intent of getting rid of old inventory.

I figured it would be the other way around. Why not have a compact and a service model by buying the compact?

This happens all the time. A dealer "talks down" a particular model because he either has others (of the same manufacturer) he needs to move, or he carries a similar model from a different manufacturer which gives him a better profit margin.
The market for Compacts is much stronger than for the full-sized grips these days because of the options you get with the Compact (10rnd or 13rnd). Bottom line, get what you want, don't listen to a dealer's opinions

There's so many different configurations of XD pistols, that for some reason it seems that the gun dealers are either unaware that SA makes a compact, or don't think it would be a good seller. I don't know, but out of about 5 or 6 dealers around here, none of them had a 45c, but they all had the Service and Tactical models and a few sub compacts.
Yes, i also believe that he would like to sell you what he has, by throwing off on the 45c. |
