Grip Safety Activated Light?

I remember hearing in my CWP course something about being able to rig a light/laser system to the grip safety, so that the light turns on as soon as the gun is gripped. I've searched high and low looking for something like this. The closes I've found are laser grips, but I'm looking for something that hangs from the rails. Any ideas?

only two products come to mind.....Crimson Trace grips and some other laser system (only seen it for the kel-tec and dont know the same) i saw at a gun show. When you put your finger inside the trigger guard it activated the laser based of body current.

Just get a LASER that's activated with a "tape switch" and put the switch on the backstrap.

Because not everyone wants a big old cord hanging from one point of their gun to the other.

Your going to have that no matter what....

OP,
I think someone accidently said "safety" or you misunderstood them.
Grip (pressure) activated - Yes
Grip Safety activated - No

The LaserMax is activated by a button on the take-down lever. It is where your finger should be before it goes to the trigger (once you have determined you have to use deadly force). It is ambidextrous for you lefties as well; plus it is internal (replaces the guide rod) and very durable.

Cheers! M2

You could probably take a laser, wire it through the grip and have the wires lead to the grip safety. You would then put one contact on the safety itself, and another on the frame or somewhere where the grip safety would come in contact with it.

I'm not sure if it's easily done...but it's worth checking out. It's certainly feasible, and the only permanent damage would be drilling a hole in your grip. You'd want to make sure the wires are thin enough and positioned as to not come in contact with any moving parts (other then the safety).

I just checked one out on Monday at Long Beach Uniform in Long Beah, CA. Unfortunately I don't remeber the manufacturer. They were asking like $280+ for it.

Upon further thought, my main concern with that set-up would be that with a grip-activated laser, you have no control over if it comes on or not. There are some circumstances where you don't want or need the laser. With the LaserMax, it is my decision whether I want to activate it or not...

Just something to think about...

Cheers! M2
