Tactical vs Service
I have a 45C.
People on this site talk about tactical and service models. What is the difference between a tactical and service model? |

The .45 Service also has a captive guide rod assembly so there is no aftermarket guide rod and recoil springs available yet.

Tac model has 5 inches of barrel just the right length for a .45acp

That being said, I like the full-size tactical. I think it looks nice. It's just not for me. I wanted the compact. |

I have not had a chance to shoot a tactical but I love my XD45 service. Its super accurate and I can carry it all day comfortably.

I have both a 4" and 5" XD45C. The only difference is my 5" is slightly more accurate than the 4" but that might be because the 5" has a tungsten rod insert in the guide rod for a bit more weight which makes it a bit steadier to hold.

I just got the tactical model (I can't get a CCW permit for another two years, so I figured I can always get a 4" or 3" down the road when I can legally conceal) and after getting used to the size, it looks perfectly normal to me, considering it is no longer than a 1911. Now I just have to get used to the polymer frame, as I'm not used to how thin the material is around the mag well!

They really dig the compact tactical . . .
Basically like already said the biggest difference is the 5" barrel compared to the 4"
