Question Magazine release

Pushing the magazine release on the right side of my XD 45 is stickier and not as smooth as it is on the left.

I have lubricated it, but am considering disassembling it to see what the problem is. Any ideas???

no, but they do seem stiff when new, and loosen-up after a few hundred rounds. somebody on here probly will know of a possible cause

If you disassemble it and polished all the surfaces that make contact with each other with some 1000-1500 grit paper it would smooth out. Or just shoot it a bunch

It also might just be gunked up...got a lot of rounds through the gun?

right index release?

I know this sounds goofy...but I am finding a right index finger mag release easier than thumb as I have been doing for thirty years.

Am I crazy?

You'll notice the newer Walthers use a mag release designed just for that.

I have mixed feelings about them. Personally I'd rather use my thumb...but the way the Walthers are set up it's not too bad.

Am I crazy?
Crazy? Nope, I have converted every pistol I can to trigger finger release. It's easier and gets my trigger finger off the trigger just when it NEEDS to be off the trigger.

Well...I still might be crazy...but I'm glad I'm not the only one.

I must be crazy too but it appears that I'm in good company. I like to use my trigger finger to release the mag. Lets me keep the weapon trained on target better during mag changes. I've got short fingers so I have to reposition the weapon in my hand to use my thumb to release the mag.

I have for years seen ads for ambidextrious magazine release buttons for 1911's. Now that I have experienced this on my XD, I am going to have to convert my 1911. Using the trigger finger is faster, easier and safer!
