Frustrated: STILL not locking open!

What a pain... i don't know what the problem is. I'm using factory ammo, factory mags, and the slide is not locking back on the last round. I should say, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. what could be the problem?

The only problem that comes to mind is finger placement....if your thumb is riding the slide release it could cause this very easily. I am by no way insulting your style by saying this.

My suggestion....shoot a full mag strong or weak hand only (eliminating your other thumb from being present). If that works and the gun operates fine then you found your problem. If it does not, send it back to SA.

Your thumbs are hitting the slide release.

To test, load ONE round in your mags, be very careful and watch your thumbs. If it doesn't lock back, then you have bigger issues.

OK... i'll see what outcome i get. The funny thing about thumbs... i've had this pistol for almost 3 years, and i've never had a problem until this year. nothing has changed. As i stack my thumbs, my right thumb sits in the thumb notch away from the slide release. My left just below and under my right.

SA has great customer service - try the above suggestions and if that doesn't work call SA.

Check your magazines sometimes they get bent and won't push the slide lock lever after the last round is fired.

How do the magazine followers appear to be holding up? Maybe you can replace those.

I had the same problem with older 15rnd mags, had to mod the followers. More trouble than it's worth especially considering the ammo to do the testing. IF that is the prob just buy 16rnd mags, but it's most likely your thumb. I now put my right thumb OVER my left hand ( when I remember to lol )

You can buy 16 round mags for the XD45acp?
