New guide rod

Does anyone know anything about a EFK Firedragon guiderod? It is a 2 piece rod, one inside the other with a spring also inside the larger dia. rod.
It is listed on GunBroker and I wonder "Do I really need a new/better guide rod?". It sounds like a new guide rod is necessary to keep from damaging the XD.
I am new to all of this and need some advise. Also, with your reply, would give me an idea why you advise a certain action or item/part etc.? I am tring to do the right thing and gain some useful knoweledge.
Thank you.

I believe what you are talking about is more a dampener and guide rod combined, which seems to be popular with Glocks but I can't say I have heard of many XD shooters using them. To answer your question no you don't need a better guide rod. Not to challenge EFK but I have never heard of a XD frame failure. Most buy guide rods to make it easier to change springs when shooting lighter loads or just because the look pretty. The guide rods that come with the XDs work just fine thought the 2 piece rods have the potential to break they last a long time.
