Stan, when I modified a Pierce 9mm extension to fit my 45acp last summer (before the Pierce 45acp extension was available), is used the epoxy stick from Home Depot, it's about a 3/4 inch tube that you cut off what you need, roll it in your fingers, and it works like putty for a couple of minutes before it hardens. The thread is on xdtalk at.

XD 45 compact grip extensions

If you use it and need to file/sand it to a final shape, do it after it's hardened, but before it turns into it's final hardness, when it's a pain to shape it. Paint it flat black and it will blend-in OK.

I've been told that JB Weld is the best adhering and toughest epoxy for building things, but it takes a long time to harden, and it flows and drips while it's hardening, so it's tough to work with.

i did but that was for my rifle... the problem is that it doesnt really like to stick to plastic but i rooughed it up really good and put on a few coats and let it dry for about 2 weeks and then folloed it up with some \"appliance epoxy\" paint that is really tough. no dings yet but we will see. now as far as epoxy for modifing a grip IMO nothing beats JB weld for strength but that would require a re-paint of some sort.
but i dont think the bed liner would last long on a pistol. they just get used too much

It all depends on what you're trying to do, and how thick it should be. If you're trying to improve the grip texture, there are other options that are on xdtalk (stipling, grip tape, rubber grips, etc.).

Post whatever you do when you're done, life is a learning experience.
