? on .45 compact
the xd bug hit hard after shooting my xd 45 service model. now i want a compact for carrying. currently, i carry a glock 27 with an extended mag base plate so i can grip with 3 fingers. can i use a full grip on the xd compact with the 10 shot magazine, or does it need the x-tension for a full grip? will a standard xd mag fit the compact?

If you have really big hands you might need it. I have about medium sized hands and don't need it. My pinky rests just above the mag base plate. There is a pretty good amount of room to work with. It's not exactly a compact in some respects but it's still plenty concealable.
I'm only 5'5"-5-6", 123 lbs. I shoved the gun in my waist band without a holster, walked into the front room of my house and nobody noticed. I think that's pretty good. Last edited by Vekta; 06-08-2008 at 05:58 PM. |

Vekta +1 on that. I too have medium hands & the gun fits perfectly. I've mentioned this a couple of times on this forum that the XD45C using the 10 rd mag is virtually the same size as the Glock 19 and as a result conceals the same.
I have them both so "that's my story and I'm sticking to it!" |

I get a full grip with only the 10 round compact mag.

For grins, I just went and measured my XD45 Compact with Flush 10 Round Magazine and my Glock 19, with standard 15 Round Magazine.
The grip distance from the bottom of the trigger guard, down the face of the grip, to the lowest usable point on the grip is as follows: Glock 19 = 2.25" XD45 C = 2.12" So, the XD45 C has 1/8" less grip height than the Glock 19. That OUGHT to be enough grip for you without needing the 13 round magazines and spacers! Futuristic |

How about a Pearce grip extension?

with or without my extended grip 13 round mag in, my hands only touch the grip. Even with the 13 round in I do not touch it the way I grip.
I shot a score of 100% yesterday for my CCW with the 10 round magazine in my compact .45 XD

since i have medium hands, i shouldn't need a grip extension. i've handled glock 19's and 23's and they fit my hand great. it's a good thing the glock 21sf was a bit bulky for my hands. that's the reason i bought the xd 45. i may just have to sell my glock 22/27 and buy a couple xd 40's
