$500 used, I purchased my XD45 Compact brand new for 529 and some change. I'd save up the extra $$$ and get a new one.

$500 used? Wonder what he's been smokin'...
I'd offer him $350 cash and if he sold it, I'd be happy. Grease is easy to clean. Be glad it's not 1/4" worth of semi solidified cosmoline! |

I agree with you...It is a well known problem with some XD mags...Just restore the rear area to a flat condition, and test. Compare with a new mag... Easy fix, then no problem. I also agree with other posters that $500. strikes me as a bit much for a used XD45, kit included... I didn't pay much more that that myself for a NIB XD45C. Shoot it, carry it; you will love it! mrwildroot

Sometimes the mag won't fall out because my pinky is holding it in place when I push the release. When I let go of the release the mag won't fall out by itself but a gentle pull gets it out. I've been working on keeping my little finger off of the mag when pressing the release.

It's good to hear that the prices of new XD's are fairly low where you live.
I've been in 4 gun shops in Maine and a new XD-45ACP is around $600 in every one. Even a new XD40SC is about $570. Maine is a pretty screwed up state, so I didn't really expect anything less. Frank

I agree with a couple of these guys about the rear of the mag being distorted... Happened to mine Well, no HST for me!
Read the whole thread, it started out as an ammo thread and ended up finding my real problem, which was that the sliding block in the under side of the slide was too rough and was pushing the top round too hard into the back of the magazine, which caused it to dent the back of the mag out, causing exactly the sticky mag issue you describe... Springfield sent me new mags (exchange for mine), covered my shipping, and all was happy... I went ahead and polished up the sliding block and I'm still GTG... BTW, I got mine about 6 months ago from a Hunting store in central Ohio for $450 shipped to my FFL (which is my dad, so no FFL fee), XD45 Compact 4" with the XDGear... Mike |
