Ridiculous XD45 Tactical N.D.!!
Friend of mine owns an XD45 Tactical, the only XD I've shot.
Few nights ago, friend made the mistake (could have been disastrous) of putting his XD on the floor by his bed. He also put one of those funky flashlights that takes the multi-purpose square batteries that will also work with electric drills, etc. on the floor near the XD. Anybody familiar with those lights realizes that they have a pistol grip with a trigger...getting the picture? Yep, friend hears noise in middle of night, reaches over, groggy, and squeezes the trigger on his "flashlight" and blows a hole through his bedroom floor. Needless-to-say, his lovely wife wasn't too pleased with my friend's action. Friend now keeps his XD in a nearby drawer! |

I'm sure his pistol will be holstered in the future, correct?

That's why I keep the full mag and the XD close but seperate on my bed.
Yes, I realize that the noise of loading and racking the slide could alert the BG, but my dogs would have already distracted him, so I doubt that a click, clack, clack is going to be heard by him.

prime example like this was shared from my CCW class, if you wake up groggy at all, its never best to have access to something and do it out of habit, what ever it takes to get your senses back, loading it, walking over to it, opening a safe... its just common sense. lucky no one was hurt

I keep my "nightstand" piece a little farther away than my nightstand. I keep it loaded and holstered on a desk that requires my getting up out of bed to retrieve it.
