Here's a good one. Was at the gunsmiths last week and one of his customers walks in and actually brags about having an AD at his house. Not only once but twice. Say's his gun fell on the ground, he grabbed it and it just went "off". He then takes the mag out, forgets that it has already fed another round into the chamber, he pulls the trigger and has another AD. He then tells us he was drunk. My gunsmith and I both look at him like he's an idiot and then my gunsmith started to lecture him about gunhandling. Glad I don't live next to him or near him.

I have both the XD 45 tact. and the Ryobi flashlight....About the only similiarity between the two is that you can put your hand around both of them. Anyone that could make that kind of mistake should have of thier guns taken away.

this ladies and gents is why you always keep your defense firearm a couple of steps away. Ensure that you are actually AWAKE before you go pulling on things.

My XD is locked and loaded but it sits on a shelf under the top of the nightstand. I've yet to have a problem with it. I don't have a dog in my house as the landlord says guard cats will have to work for now.

My friend is a good guy and doesn't drink, but he does install septic tanks for a living, if that gives you any clues relative to his intellectual prowess!

Suggestion: If your going to keep the XD by the bed, put the clip in but don't rack the slide unless you really need to. it only takes a fraction of a second to rack it, but at least you are making a conscious decision. Just my thoughts.

He was just asking for trouble with that setup.
My SL Scorpion is on the XD via quick-detach RLS mount, and a separate tac-style flashlight sits beside the pair on the nightstand. I can grab either or both...I would only grab the XD if I'm awake enough to think I may need it. That being the case, the XD stays in Condition One; I'm not announcing to a possibly armed intruder that I'm heading his way.
