XD45 Compact and/or XD45 Tactical?
My first XD was an XD9 SC. Then, I bought the XD45 Tactical.
I love both of them. They are great to shoot. The XD9 is my carry gun though. But, I have really been contemplating buying an XD45 compact. It really does not make much sense having both compact and tactical to me. But, I am not sure that I want to part with my tactical. The compact might work for me as a carry, but the tactical is just too big. Is there much difference in the way that the compact shoots vs the tactical? Much difference in recoil? I checked out the XD45 service today, but they did not have a compact in stock. The service felt great I might add. But, I prefer the smaller grip for carry purposes. The shop will make a fair deal on a trade (trading in my tac). I just can't decide to let go. What would I do with three XDs?

I have one, wish I'd bought the regular tactical since it's only a range gun now . . . LOL
Buy lots of bullets . . . .

I have the Compact Tactical. I shoot it a little better at distances over 10yds and the felt recoil is a tad less due to the extra weight up front.
It's a great range/HD gun and if you ever need to carry it, you can (not really a big problem to conceal the extra 1" of barrel).

When I said compact, I should have said 4" compact. That is the model that I seem to be drawn to. The XD9 SC works great with my Crossbreed Supertuck, but the 5" barrel on my XD45 Tactical is just too much for me to carry comfortably.

I'd probably go with the XD45 Compact. You can use the included 13 round mag. for range work and included 10 round mag. for concealed carry. Sort of like getting two guns for the price of one. More XD's More Fun!

two diff springs
I asked this question a year ago to no avail. i guess everyone knows they have diff springs. i thought the compact dual spring was designed to reduce felt recoil kinda like the Detonics 3 spring in one that is supposed to recoil like a 22 (ha).
i have a 9mm tac and a 45C and they seem to feel about the same to me, but i am curious of teh same cal in service and tac. the fella that said he might try it again this weekend, i hope you let us know. thanks |

I have a compact 5" Tactical and have no trouble at all carrying it. I use a IWB holster from Gun-Works. I wouldn't take a farm in Georgia for my set up. The pistol shoots like a dream, and rides in the holster so well that I can't even tell its there.
