Kickin' Myself (HARD!)
Well, I was tinkering with my tactical today because I wanted to take apart the pieces that I will be sending to have polished. So I took out the barrel, and with the help of some very detaild directions from Springfield Armory XD and HS2000.com I managed to very easily take the striker locking plate off the slide. I then began to read and understand the rest of the info on that website and thought hey how hard can it be, let's give it a try. (I love to learn/know how things work) So I began to completely disassemble the frame. I had everything taken apart except the grip safety. So I stuck a small screw driver on the pin holding it in place and hit it gently with a hammer, it started to slide out and things were going good. It was almost out and I snapped the da gone spring in half. So now I have to go over to Gander Mountain and have a new spring ordered, and on top of that I will have to pay to have them put the rear of the frame back together, because unlike the front parts of the frame, I have no freakin' idea how to put the back stuff back in. Guess from now on I'd better leave it to the pros.
Sorry for the long post, had to share the frustration........

There are many other places to order the springs, and putting it back together is not hard at all. There are Youtube videos walking you through it. The hardest spring to get back in, is the mag release spring. Now that's a pain.

You can order the grip safety from Springfield them might even send you one for free. Give them a call. Putting the gun back together is not that big of a deal, there are several video's posted on this board that will show you how to do it. If you decide to reassemble it yourself and need more help PM me.
Here's on vid. Vid I made of sear and trigger bar reassembly

Thanks for the tips, and the link for the videos. Videos are on the desktop and I plan to fix it myself. On hold with springfield now, might have to call back tomorrow as I'm not sure if they are open right now. Did you make that video? I was only planning on have the barrel and striker locking plate polished and then putting a SS fat guide rod in it, but I like the looks of the internal parts polished in that video!

Another great post! Thank you so much for all your help. It doesn't seem so difficult after all. The link to the original post doesnt work though. I'm going to call SA in the morning about getting that spring.

They all need to be on a REAL FAQ page.

Yep, the "Q-tip method" is what i used. Worked like a champ. I had to use a similar process while putting the mag release back in. I used a piece of paperclip that time. Wasn't as easy as the grip safety, but it worked.
