For those of you with a Black XD .45

I just got mine sat. And noticed a strange line on it. Apparently the copper rivets on your jeans will scratch the gun VERY easy. I bearly touched it to a rivet to see if that was the culprit and it marked it again. I tried rubbing them off with no luck. They are very fine lines and not very noticeable, but still something I'm going to watchout for. Just wanted to warn you guys.

Pre scratch (I dont have any from after)

actually I just noticed you can see two of them in the second picture. Right at the end on the side. They are very fine lines.

I am noticing quite a bit of difference in the sights from one gun to the other. Your guns front sight is sitting higher than mine on my .40, one can see the gap in your pic, I do not have that with mine. In addition, I noticed my rear sights were slightly to the right, not centered.
Just an observation.

unless the xd is a safe queen, minor blemishes just add "character" IMHO and how is the gun contacting the rivets on your jeans?

Took my XD45 to the gunsmith to get some Truglo's put on and the first thing he said with just a quick look was, "your sights are off" Mine were to the left. Which could explain some of my shooting patterns. Only firing with the new sights will tell if it's me.

When holstered on my side just the end can touch this one rivet. I'm about to order a IWB holster anyway though. Its really strange how little pressure it take to put a mark on it to.

Copper is a softer metal and I'm guessing that the marks are actually from the metal of the rivet rubbing off on your gun not actual scratches on your gun. The same thing happened to me. Try putting some solvent on a patch and rubbing the marks off. The marks should come right off. It worked for me.

I've got a nice scratch on my xd 45 (black) from the shooting range. Set it down a few times without a pad and there it was..... oh well. Maybe I'll get the slide refinished some day, but until then, no big deal.
