thumbn' it

i picked mine up in WV early March......was in the case for 5 minutes the guy said.......533 out the door......i like the thumb on it......i feel much more comfortable carrying with one in the tube now......coming off of a S&W 1911 its an easy adjustment.

I have the 45ACP Tactical with thumb safety that I bought in March. When I bought mine the only two options with the thumb safety were the 4" Service Model 45ACP in Black and the 5" Tactical 45ACP in Black. Damn.......that bi-tone looks nice.

Just wish they would come out with the Tactical in 9mm with a thumb safety and I will be beating the door down at the gun shop to get one.

I'm not sure I understand WHY Springfield is putting thumb safeties on the XD's now.

Thumb safeties are not needed on the XD. They are just something else to fool with when the crappola hits the fan. The XD already has three safeties so why another one.

Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire and you are good to go.

What am I missing here?

there is an easy answer to that.. the military has a standards for all pistols in their trials.. and one of the standards is to have a external thumb safety.. even though the military cancels the trial for a new standard issue .45 ever company and their brother designed a .45 with a thumb safety.. they designed it so why not release it to the public and see if it sells, and if the military trial ever comes back into play then they can say "hey look we have this model and its proven in the field"
