Doesn't sound normal to me but let me make sure I get this right.

1. Gun with no mag, you pull the slide back and it locks open without you having to do anything?
a)Not normal.

2. If you put an EMPTY mag in the gun with the slide lock open and it won't close unless you take the mag out.
a)Have you tried pushing the slide release down with the mag in the gun?

3. With a loaded mag in the gun you have to pull the slide back and push the slide release down.

a) If you push the slide release down without pulling the slide back, WITH A LOADED MAG IN THE GUN, the gun will not close? NOT NORMAL

b) If pull the slide back then releasing the slide without pushing the slide release down, WITH A LOADED MAG IN THE GUN, the gun doesn't close.
NOT NORMAL
