I just went to the gun range and yes there was actually 2 in the glass window. I live in vegas and the store is pretty big. I think is because alot of LE goes there. Price tag was $519.00. I didn't check closer to see if it was Tactical or Service; I just wanted to see how much the new one was. The funny thing is I remember when I got my Service(not from the same store), but I went to check their price first and it was $569. Cheaper now I guess.

I still think the XD (in .40 or .45) would be an awsome replacement for the
bulky, underpowered, unreliable, and foreign made, current military sidearm!
As a newbie to XD I welcome the patience and knowledge of you hi posters. (got my first gun at age 5 - 50 year ago!!)
The Berreta is made in the USA, the XDs are made in Croatia with great excellence. Nothing wrong with that.

It my opinion the thumb safety is just over kill for an xd. but I suppose you could trade her in for one with safety on it.I wouldn't.

As stated earier in this thread; 1911 shooters want it, and some government contracts require it. If it makes Springfield some money, why not?

As a cop, I like it. Anything that may momentarily confuse someone who gets my weapon is quite welcome.

If you get one with the thumb safety you do not HAVE to switch it on- the other safeties are still working... If you don't want it, don't get it.
