New Guy
New guy here…. Just picked up a new XD45 Tactical and I’m impressed!
After starting with Glocks (G17, G29, G20) over 10 years ago and then recently moving on to 1911’s (Colt, Kimber, RIA), I found myself wanting a non 1911 platform in .45 acp for my nightstand gun. I went to my local dealer with the intention of ordering a G21SF, but he didn’t have one in stock. While dialing up his distributor on the phone, he happened to bring out a XD45 Tactical for me to look at while he was trying to get through. By chance or just destiny, the fax machine somehow kept the line tied up for several minutes, after fondling the tactical for only a short time, I told him never mind, I’ll take the Springfield instead. Took it home last weekend and ran 100 rounds of WWB through it and the XD ran like a sewing machine! I was getting very good groups, the grip size and angle are perfect, and I actually liked the trigger. Ran another 26 rounds of Remington 230 gr. JHP this afternoon, and like the first outing, it was flawless. It also seems like the trigger is getting even better! This was the first XD I had ever shot and I’m so impressed, I’m looking at getting another Tactical in 9mm for my wife. If only Springfield would make one in 10mm! Anyways, thought I'd say hello! |

Welcome from East Tennessee.
I know you will love your new gun. I have a 9mm service. My wife enjoys it too. She had some trouble with a family members glock 19. She limp wristed it and it kept jamming on her. She has put over a 100 rounds thru my XD and not one FTF. I have put over a 1000 rounds thru it myself with no problems.

Bakjr;
Welcome from Ohio!! I've had a simular experience, I bought a 4" service model after just handling and looking it over at my local shop. Never shot one before. Mine shoots very well, the 230gr bullet seems to be the pistols bullet weight of choice. I've tried 200gr JHP's and 185gr JHP's and the 230gr bullets( JHP's, RN's LRN's) shoot the best. The trigger will get smoother as you shoot it mine has gotter noticably smoother since I bought it. If you reload, don't bother with SWC style of bullet, the XD won't feed them, and they'll just jam, Stick with a round nosed bullet, or a truncated cone style of bullet and you'll be good to go.. |
