I haven't seen Blazer that cheap in Alaska for a long time... more like $20-22 - all the more reason to reload.

Bah, back at the .40 vs .45 whining. Technically everyone's right! Yes .40 does have more energy at the muzzle (and subsequently everywhere else) 135 gr (8.7 g) JHP 1,200 ft/s (370 m/s) 432 ft·lbf (586 J) 155 gr (10.0 g) JHP 1,140 ft/s (350 m/s) 447 ft·lbf (606 J) 165 gr (10.7 g) JHP 980 ft/s (300 m/s) 352 ft·lbf (477 J) 180 gr (12 g) JHP 1,000 ft/s (300 m/s) 400 ft·lbf (540 J) 230 gr (15 g) Hydra-Shok JHP 900 ft/s (270 m/s) 414 ft·lbf (561 J) 185 gr (12.0 g) JHP 950 ft/s (290 m/s) 371 ft·lbf (503 J) 230 gr (15 g) JHP 850 ft/s (260 m/s) 369 ft·lbf (500 J) 165 gr (10.7 g) JHP 1,060 ft/s (320 m/s) 412 ft·lbf (559 J) but as we can see here the energy difference is NEGLIGIBLE....100 J or 1/6 between the LIGHTEST energy .45 ACP listed and the HEAVIEST energy .40S&W listed. For most loads the difference is going to be substantially less than that. WE ALL know there's no such thing as Knockdown power in a handgun...RIGHT....RIGHT? Okay...Good...then energy is good for what? Penetration! Yay! Gold star for everyone. Will a bullet with 500J of energy penetrate your body? Yes, unless you're the Thing. Will a bullet with 600J of energy penetrate your body? I'm not even going to dignify that with a response. Of COURSE it will. So in the end shoot what you want. Extra credit to whoever compared the .40 S&W to a small yappy dog you just want to shoot....not because I hate .40S&W but because I hate small yappy dogs.

You are better off with the 45. The recoil is more manageable and the 45 is more fun to shoot. I've never cared for the 40cal either and I have owned 1. And only 1...............
