OWB carry options
Looking for input on what you guys have found for a OWB kydex type holsters. Here are my main needs:
Tight to the body Adjustable tention Belt loop that will take 1 1/2" X 1/4" Forward cant Most of my carry is IWB but I'm thinking about another alternative for cool weather carry. I'm leaning towards Blade tech but wanted to hear some first hand opinions. Thanks for your help. Slugger

I use a G-Code (paddle style, strongside) for my XD45 5" w/dual mag holder (weakside) and a 5.11 vest for cover. This combo works for me and I wear it year round although it does tend to get a "little" warm here in the summer.

Here is another option from one our sponsors. I have one of these for my HK P7 and it is very nice. Comp-Tac : Products
The Blade Tech Sting Ray is also a good one. |

I will always come back with these two companies:
Raven Concealment Systems for their modular holsters: The Malabar Front FIST for their thin kydex which reduces the bulk making them more easy to conceal: FIST, INC.

It's been only a week but I'm starting to really like the holster that came with the XD.

I definitely add my vote for Fist. I use their holsters (I use the leather, not Kydex). They are designed specifically for your pistol, to YOUR specifications. They are designed as concealment holsters from the ground up, so they hold the pistol close, and the grip tucked in to minimize printing. The only down side is that they run about 8 weeks from order to delivery. However, that is reasonable to get a holster built to your specs (you pick the cant, add options, tell them if you want it to fit extra tight, etc), in the color you want, for your pistol.

For my XD .45 compact the Don Hume H720 OT is the ticket for two ways to carry. Use the paddle for quick rig removal or take it off and slide your belt through the loops. Either way it has just the right forward cant for strong side carry.

Some OWB holsters fit tighter than others, but none of them will hold that gun as snugly as a good IWB holster will.
I carry with my crossbreed supertuck all year long. The clothes will change, but the holster does not. Considering the IWB comfort, concealability and snug fit, OWB carry is no longer an option for me.
