Conceal carry permits in your state ?
How does whatever state that you live in handle issuing and (if necessary) renewing your permits to carry?
In Mn. we must complete an all day class including range time. Cost is up to the instructor. I paid $100, some higher, a few lower. Certificate of completion is brought to the Sheriff"s office and after a backround check your permit is issued for another $100. Valid for 5 years. Then to renew, no shortcuts. Same all day class, same cost, except $75 to reissue permit. I'm curious to know how different this procedure is in whatever state that you live in. |

No class required here in Georgia. But they've changed the rules recently and unless they've changed back, you have to go through the whole process (paperwork, finger prints, GBI background check) as when you first applied. Cost is around $35 +/- and good for 5yrs.

take an 8 hour course, get certificate. Turn in certificate and paperwork to local sheriff, pay like $90, wait, get permit. Some counties make you go to the mental health services place but I don't think mine does.

The renewel is just do the paperwork again no new finger printing is needed and if you have not been arrested you just mark the section on arrests no change. You need two new pass port sized pictures and you send it off with the money. you can pick can a five year or ten year renewel the ten year is twice the cost. of the five year $85 five or $170 ten. They mail the new permit you don't have to go to the Sheriff in person as you did the first time for it.
Please note my permit is not in Texas. Last edited by happygunner : 05-03-2008 at 11:15 AM. |

Colorado the total fee for the first time is just over $152.50 (maximum, the $100.00 goes to the county issuing so some may be less, the $52.50 goes to the state for the CCIC/NCIC check and fingerprint processing) the permit is good for 5 years. Renewal is $63.00 ($50.00 to the county and $13.00 to the state), along with certification that the holder "remains qualified".
The maximum time allowed for the agency to approve the permit is 90 days. Most accomplish it in less. Harris |

MI has a similar process. The class was 150.00 the finger prints were 15.00 then the license was 105.00. Every five years you do the same all over. The only way to get it cheaper would be the finger prints, if I went to the sheriff office and waited a couple hours they would do it for free. Local PD cost 15.00 and took about 5 minutes. I have heard that the classes are dropping in price due to too many instructors. I am up for renewal again next year.

Pay the money, fill out the form, get your fingerprints taken, watch the mail. Renewals are pay the money, watch the mail. WA state is very easy on CCW permits. If you qualify, you get one, period, even if you don't live in this state.
