I just renewed my GA GFL (CCW) and it's $39.25 and you do the whole routine from scratch as well as the 60-90 day wait (in Cobb County). They will issue a temp permit good for 60 days at the time of your renewal.

Kinky!

In Oklahoma, currently, you get your prints done at the sheriffs office, you or they send it off (I can't remember, that was too many years ago), and you get an OSBI background check. 6-8 weeks later they send the license to the Sheriff and you go pick it up. When he hands it to you, he looks into your eye and says "Boy, don't you go causin' no trouble" (I'm surely just kidding).

Renewal is now 5 years. You send money and passport photos, new license comes to your door.

Actually, if the LE officer was truly anti-gun, he would not have said anything, and called an on-duty officer to arrest him when he arrived at the restaurant, in front of a lot of people to embarrass him further.

The LE officer was just advising him of the NJ criminal statue, which allows you to transport a pistol in-between the range and your home (in that case). I would say the LE officer was being a good sport and nice guy. BTW, I grew up in Paramus, Land Where the Wild Turkey Roam from the Leni Lenapi Indians.

In Cali, no-way, no-how in a populated county. The Sheriff has absolute authority, and she will not issue them to private citizens. In rural counties (where the prior poster resides), they're issued, but not living in one I don't know the paperwork, testing or fees involved.

Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks.

MS info was posted earlier...to add, if you are retired LEO it only cost $25.00 and looks similar to a drivers licenses, this provision was enacted before the Law Enforcement Safety Act.

This is true. I have heard of cops following people out of the range and popping them when they stopped at wawa for something to drink... Man this state sucks

NC it's around $55 for the class and $85 for 5 years. When it's time to renew its just the $85 again and no class. I think I'm going to get me a Georgia address so I can get a permit for $35 for 5 years...

To add to TX: Free for active duty military and LEO. Half-price for retirees. Half price for seniors.

Hunting/fishing license combos with deer and turkey tags are also free to active duty military.

Thanks

I want to thank everyone for their input on this topic. I found it to be a very interesting read, I hope you did also.

My first reaction was that there should be more uniformity among our States. After thinking a bit I realized this would mean a Federal CCw application process, which I think would be a bad thing. The more government involved the worse this would be. More costs, possibly more restrictions, and the time element to get a CCw, who knows what that would be. I think the States are doing an OK job. Being able to obtain a permit locally is a good thing. Hopefully some day more States will ease up on their restrictions. Too bad that so many people out there think "GUNS" is a four letter word!

Thanks again for your input. vukdog7

I love living in AZ.

We did away with classes for renewals, just pay the dough and if you aren't a bad guy they renew you.

We also are in the process of making concealed carry without a permit a petty offense.......
