I knew a fellow Jerzey boy would chime in on this.
Me and my dad where at the range in Bayonne about a year ago and we were talking about getting dinner somewhere in town. When a cop overheard us and said "you better go home first". My dad said why and he said "its illegal to carry firearms in your car unless your going to or coming from a gun range or gun shop". Even the cops are anti-gun in New Jersey.

Take the class, qualify with your weapon, turn in application with $100.25 in money order or cashier's check ONLY (odd since you can pay cash for extra set of prints for non-resident permits), and the waits begins (which is where i'm at). It's good for 5 years. The renewal is the first half of initial permit and cost is $65

Just to add to Florida, no training class is needed if you're ex-military. Your DD214 is proof enough you know how to handle a fireman. All other fees and conditions apply.

Ditto. When I got the money order, the lady asked if it was for the CCW. I guess she sells plenty of MOs for $100.25. Especially when it's at the closest grocery store to the CCW/Fingerprint office.

I've heard it comes at around 60 days (they say 120). That will get mine here early July.

My buddy got his in 39 days, hopefully mine will come in quick. I turned in my application on 5-2-08, so hopefully it'll be around the 40 day mark *crosses finger*

Ky: Up to 75 dollars for class, including range time must put 11/20 in the black on a full size silhouette target. Wait about 2 -3 weeks to get your certificate of training. Take to your sheriffs dept. and pay them 60 bucks for five year license. Wait up to 90 days get a letter in the mail to pick up at sheriffs dept. Renewal is 60 per 5 year period.

For Texas, you take an all day course with range time (~$100), and submit fingerprints and passport photos. A background check is run and you receive the permit in 6-8 weeks.

For renewals, you take a 4 hour course (with range qualification) and I think you have to get re-fingerprinted. After you renew 2x, you no longer have to take the class when you renew.
