Magazine issues

Just recently purchased a 45c. I have noticed that the magazines rattle when fully loaded. I cant for the life of me figure out what could be loose inside the magazine. This is happening in both my full size and compact magazine. I have never experienced this in my 40sc mags. I was investigating this earlier today. I decided to unload the full size mag, and after removing about 4 rounds, they all started to fall out. The follower was actually stuck and allowed the rounds to fall out. I was not too worried about the rattle, but now with the combination of rattling and a sticking follower, I am a bit concerned.

I thought at one time I read in the forum where someone said their mags rattled. Does anyone know what if any solutions may have come up?

Rattling mags are pretty common and usually not really a problem. However the sticking follower is unusual. Take the magazine apart, clean the mag tube, spring, follower, then see how it runs. If the springs are a problem, you can get AGP extra power springs which will function better than factory. Several on the forum have tried those springs and they've worked well, I'm going to order some myself.

I have the .45 Tactical. When the mags are empty they don't rattle; when they're loaded they do..

I suspect this is incorporated into the design to allow mags to drop free even if they have muck, grit and debris in the mag well..? Not sure.

IMO - As long as they function like they're supposed to it shouldn't be cause for concern.

Full mag rattles are fairly common on XDs and even Sigs but the stuck follower is the first time I've heard of it in an XD. You might want to check for burrs inside the witness holes and the mag catch notch.

Just read this link on THR about SA saying they've had problems with 13rnd mags. You might contact them about your problem.

Interesting. My 13 rd .45 mags have problems feeding, too. I have only ran Wolf through it for the last couple of hundred rounds though. The brass stuff fed fine, but I haven't used any in a while. Trying to get rid of the wolf.

I contacted SA about this problem, and they told me not to load them full up. They said start with 7 or 8 rounds and work your way up to full mag after several range trips. I guess they want to exercise the springs a bit.
