Magazine problem/solution
I've been having a problem with 3 of my 6, 13 round mags. When they've been emptied in the gun and I press the mag release, they drop about and inch and then have to be removed by hand. The other 3 drop right out ready for a fast reload (necessary for a fast time for shooting Steel Challenge).
After doing several searches I found several solutions other XD owners had found. Not being much of a gunsmith or handyman, I didn't want to void any warranty on the gun or magazines by bending or altering the condition. This morning, I called Springfield, spoke with Mitch, and within a few minutes he agreed to email a FedEx label for me to send the mags for repair or replace. He said turnaround time would be "a week or two". I'm glad I've got 3 functioning mags. Using the downloaded shipping label, the mags went out to Springfield this afternoon. I'll let you all know when I get the new ones. Joe

Are you shooting LSWC? This does cause a problem in the XD & repeated use causes a dimple on the back of the mag right at the feed lips. Just use a needle nose plier & bend it flush then stop shooting the SWC bullets & switch to a Rn or TC style.

I found other posts where people think the mag problem comes from the XD mag pouches that come with the XD. I would hope Springfield diagnoses the problem and cause and finds a fix. Until then, IMHO, they're doing the right thing replacing the mags.

Problem resolution
Springfield shipped 3 new mags 5/7, I got them 5/10. The new mags work as they should. Thanks Springfield.

I've noticed my extended mag has trouble getting out sometimes...but I found I wasn't holding the release long enough. Not sure why the 10 rounders don't do it...

I had the same problem with the mags that came with my XD.The top back side of the mag bends out after shooting. SA replaced them for free and it took a little over a week to receive the new ones.

This is not a solution. It is simply replacing the old mags with new ones that will, in time, do the same thing. A solution is for the manufacturers in Croatia to redesign the magazines so they dont get this dimple in the first place.

So does anyone have a progress report on a real fix for the problem? or are they "Aware of the problem and 'working' on it?

The problem could be from a number of things.
I just had one mag that did that. It had a burr on one of the upper front corners of the mag. No doubt from dropping it during IDPA matches. It was a small burr, but enough to cause this to happen. A little 150 grit sandpaper and the problem was fixed. I practice with different mags than I carry for sure. Mags are easily bent or tweaked. It's surprising to me how little it can take to make a mag stick. If you have a mag doing this, just look it over real close and bend it back or smooth it down. It can be perfectly functional again, unless it's really jacked up. I don't consider this a factory problem- just a consequence of regular shooting. Regular inspection and cleaning/tweaking of the mags would make sense, but I'll be the first to confess that I don't do it that often- until a mag starts sticking. I actually think that sending new mags out was pretty cool of them...
