it's that kind of mentality that gets them in trouble. showing off, acting gangster is not really impressive.

I have only had one occasion at the range that upset everyone.
Out door range. About 15 of us had been shooting for about an hour. All normal having a good time. Going by range rules. Up drives a jeep load of Army personal in full desert camo. They get out of the jeep and walk past the fire line and straight down range to set up targets. " while everyone was shooting" Everybody STOPPED and made their guns safe. Someone yelled for them to get back behind the fire line. Go by range rules. One of the GI's shouted back saying that they had just got back from the sand box and walking in live fire did not bother them. The range Master did not take long in escorting them off the property.

^ That's a great story! Too bad they felt that way.
I, along with most people don't like the "homies" either. But not to be racial, but hell, SOME of them might have more shooting time out of the range then the Russian guys that frequent my local range on Monday nights. They always rent big guns, fly through ammo, and pose for pictures while holding the gun perpendicular to all the other stalls. One little slip and you could kill 5 other shooters easy, these guys are geniuses. I didn't get the pleasure of seeing them escorted out, but I did get to see the pleasure of their one and only target falling off the clips at 2 yards out, not even shot once! Yeah all they had to do was go buy another target, but these guys wanted to try to use a broom to get it back. And in perfect timing Howard our range master walked by and he can be gruff as hell and didn't hesitate to let them know he didn't think that was a good idea!

There have been two occasions that I have been around at the range where thugs were shooting. One, I walked in early on a Saturday morning and the range officer knows me by name. He mentioned that the "spray shooters were here, but no worries. If they start shooting at you just stand still they'll never hit you." I just chuckled and went on in and setup my targets. Sure enough they were talking about how good they were with "shooting the s**t out of these mother f*****s" and shooting rapidly and inaccurately. I didn't feel unsafe and at least they were shooting at a range and not out in the streets at each other.
The other time I showed up to a full range on a mid Saturday day and picked up in the only lane available. As I am loading my mags I was stepped back away from my lane and I see some thugs a few lanes down talking to each other. They are sharing a gun and taking turns and one of them asks the other how to shoot it and he says, "just pull the trigger fast, dog." Well, a little while later after a few shots of my own I am reloading my mags again away from my line and I notice that they are talking again. There was a cop all the way at the end of the range shooting in his own lane. One of the thugs walks up to the cop with the gun in his hand and his hand on the trigger and asks him a question about some shooting tips. The cop looks a bit nervous but answers his question. Then the thug starts talking with his hands (gun in hand and finger on trigger and all) and ends up accidentally pointing his gun all over the range and even directly into the cops face while explaining his idea. Finally the cop corrects him and says listen you need to take your finger off the trigger and go put your gun up you are making me nervous. The thug was very apologetic and quickly scurried off while his friend mentioned in a low voice, "man what the f*** was that, you gonna get us arrested *n-word*" That time I was admittedly a bit worried for my safety but they left pretty quick after that.

where was the range master?
the homies watch too many rap videos and think guns are just a status symbol.

It is an indoor range so he is more or less the cashier. He will help if asked but he doesn't watch over you like a lifeguard.

I've seen a few, none quite as bad as the stories related here. Only range story I could really tell this one:
Our school club holds big shoots where we invite the entire campus out to the range to shoot for free (rifle, shotgun, handgun). They're pretty popular (average of about 150 participants) and the one thing we hammer hard is to have a good time but to be safe first. One time working the line, we were getting ready to call a cease fire so once people finished their magazines we had them step back from the line. There was one guy left on the line shooting the .44 Mag Ruger. He got done, started to set it down, but stopped to look it over. Next thing I remember is yelling, "DO NOT POINT THAT .44 MAGNUM AT YOUR FACE!!" And to think, I RO in order to relax

I have been pretty lucky here. The range I go to, they are pretty strict about the rules, and periodicaly will walk through along with survaliance.
When my wife and I were Trying out the XD before we bought it, there were a couple of "homies" in 2 of the lanes by us. 1 on them had rented the 50AE desert eagle! This was truly a funny sight. While they were not being too obnoxious, after a few shots of the 50AE, he has to put it down, and started shaking his hand. My wife and I shooting away, and this kid couldnt get through about 3 rounds without having to put the gun down. He looked at me, and I said "that thing is a cannon. not really any practical purpose in it.". He starts noding his head, and says "yea, man. I think your right!" i just chukled to myself, cause I don't think he had ever shot before, but wanted to impress his friend.

a .50 is a great way to start impressing people if you've never shot before.
