Why get an XD45? Simple, because it's an XD45, no further reasoning necessary.

Okay. Went to the gunshop today and dry-fired a compact a few times. I layed a S&W M&P 45 on top of it. The XD is the one I'll get. No one carrys the FNP in any caliber.
The question is this; How long does it take to get over the HORRIBLY LONG TRIGGER RESET? |

Why should you buy an XD?
WHY SHOULD YOU BUY AN XD?!? That's easy... Because it is a GREAT gun! Here's a tough one.. Why shouldn't you get an XD? Much harder question to answer. Before I bought mine I heard about the trigger reset. I think you would have to be a long time competitive shooter to even notice it. I have shot over 1300 rounds since I got mine last month and for me the trigger reset is not an issue whatsoever. ps. get the compact 45! |

I've been shooting Glocks for the past 18+ years and the only thing I noticed about the XD's trigger was that it was much lighter and appeared smoother that the Glock...the reset seemed about the same. It's been years since I've shot a 1911 so I can't remember that much about it. I would guess that a 1911 reset would be much shorter than either the XD or Glock. One of the first things I noticed on the XD when I first handled one was how similar in feel the grip was to a 1911,which was incredible considering it's a double stack mag...that and some of the other features I like about the XD made up my mind to purchase the bi-tone .45 tactical...$525.00+tax. When I take delivery on it I plan to run about 1K rounds though it and send it off for some modifications. I haven't decided just where to sent it for modifications,...maybe I'll post a tread and get some input from other owners.

I went from a 1911 to an xd. it took about 3 weeks to stop trying to engage/disengage the thumb safety but once you get used to it it's not bad at all although i plan on picking up the xd with the thumb safety soon. the main thing i liked about the xd in general was the grip. other than the 1911 it feels better in my hand that any other semi auto pistol I've ever held and thats saying alot for a double stack polymer pistol. the xd is a great gun go fire one or hold one for a while it'll grow on you in no time.
P.S. just don't get rid of the 1911 had to sell mine for extra gas money to move and I really regret it.
