Sales are still good here. Springfield marketing has done a good job of keeping the brand active. .45 versions releaased / Compact versions released / Thumb safety released. Keeps the brand popular and each new development earns free advertising in the gun mags.

Ask the guy how much he's willing to discount the price to get rid of the stock he can't move.

Gunshows for me, now, are only are opportunity to fondle things. Determine whether I like the product, then buy it from the infinitely long list of sellers that are cheaper than the gunshow pukes.

I bought my XDc at a gun show and paid appox $50 more for the privilege.
It was worth it, as the dealer let me handle the half dozen or so pistols I was interested in, compare them side by side, holster them, dry fire, etc. The guy spent 30 minutes with me and I was happy to pay a little extra for that.
Sure, I could have just done the research and then bought online. But, I was glad to support a helpful sellers business.

My two cents.

Just not worth extra $43 to purchase at show.

Selection at show was also limited and available in black frame only.
I went to the same show on Saturday. It was the first gun show I've attended, and I was rather disappointed. I thought the selection was rather limited, and the prices were much higher than I've seen online (as expected, but I mean $50-$100 more). Additionally, the one guy I talked to didn't even know what I was talking about.

Me: "I'm looking for a Springfield XD 45 Compact. 4" barrel, but with the shorter grip."
him, pointing: "is this it?"
me: "uh, no."

I then went to a local shop (Kevin's Sporting Goods), and they said they could get an XD 45 Compact with SS slide for $625 plus tax! Another shop (Tallahassee Gun & Pawn) wanted $599 plus tax. I found one on gunbroker for $500. Now I just need to find an FFL holder that doesn't want to charge too much.

I've experienced the same issues in Orlando.

Local shops are $50 to $100 more than they should be. On a $500 item I don't mind paying a slight increase on something that's hard to find, but they are pushing it.

BTW, I found only TWO shops that would immediately order what I wanted in this area....even then one didn't listen to the model numbers and ordered me a service model instead of a compact

Seems like some shops only want to sell what's in the case and nothing more..and actually LIE about availability. One dude told me it would take 5-6 months to get a Dark Earth compact and even then it may not be available this year. I called his BS and now spread the word.

Jimboni,
Well put!
I like to go to Cabelas or Gander and look at all the pretty toys and then order one from my dealer here.

I am going to be looking at getting an XD45c and XD9sc in the near future... Living in NY I don't have many shows near me. My brother is going to see what he can find for me at shows in VA. Am I better off going through gunbroker.com or Buds Gun Shop? Anywhere else I should look online? For me all local places seem to be much higher than the prices you all are quoting. I have a limited selection to shop at... only to small dealers and Gander Mountain. Thanks!
