Amazing first shoot
took my new 45compact out today for some breakin.i was nervous a little after selling my Glock g22 to finance this purchase.but after my first shot with this xd,i was blown away.very smooth, accurate, good grip feel, and VERY minimal recoil.pror to shooting,i installed a Pearce grip extender and Hogue slip on grip.ran 100 rounds of Sellier & Bellot 230 grain FMJ through it with absolutely no problems.i am so excited with this gun!next step is Trijicons and a Crossbreed Supertuck, although i'll probably continue to wear my fanny pack through the summer.anyways,if anybody out there is on the fence about buying a HD,do yourself a favor and buy one now!BTW,i am now sold on 45acp,much better than 40 i think

Great report! My XD is a big (GIANT) improvement over my glock. I prefer .45 over .40. It's funny, but I think the .40 kicked more than my .45. Chapie+ |

I love the .45,next for me is the 9mm.I dont like the .40,it serves its purpose I suppose but not for me.

What'd you pick it up for? I'm looking at getting a 45 compact real soon...my preferred dealer has it for $515.

I felt the same way the first time I took my 45c to the range for the first time and it gets more exciting each time out. I must be honest though I truly love my XD 40SC as well very accurate and the TFOs really help. I just sent the slide from my XD 45 C out to Gilbert's Guns for TFO GREEN / GREEN same as on my 40 SC can't wait to get it back I just know it will be awesome.Gilbert's has a great deal going $ 103.45 for sights install and return shipping. Y'all need to take advantage of this great deal if you been thinking about TFOs for your XD.

Mine was good right out of the box. I did have some problems due to me limpwristing. It caused some jams and after I corrected my grip the problem went away. Welcome to the XD club.

I'm also a new proud owner of a XD5 45. Bi-Tone and cant wait to hit the range asap. Me and my wife feel like we made the right choice after some research but she wants something smaller for herself. This has to be the best forum i have found with many nice knowledgeable people that take their time to explain in plain terms to us noobs

i like my xd45 but i really do like my xd40 better. both are service and even though the 45 holds one more i carry the 40 about 95% of the time. Now if i could get a 40 on a 45 frame (you can fit 16 rounds of 40 in a 45 mag) i would be VERY happy. I just feel the 40 is a better "all around" cartridge
