I just bought a XD45c
I hope I won't be disappointed with the XD45c. I currently have an Ed Brown Kobra Karry, a Smith and Wesson Gunsite, a Kimber Ultra CDP11 and a Springfield micro nine as my CCW. I read about the XD45c on this site for the last three months before I made the decision. One of the best all around concealed carry guns is the the Glock 19. I thought you could not find a better carry gun than the XD45c. I is the size of the Glock 19, with ten rounds of 45. I am in California so I have to wait ten days for the XD. When I get the XD I will take to the range and compare it to my 1911 pattern guns.

I think you'll like the XD45C, since you are used to the 1911 grip angle. I've had many 1911's and Glocks, but I prefer the XD45C for carry since it's, as you said, the size of a G19 with .45 punch

In CA, you can't be in possession of the 13-round mag anyway, so the compact is the way to go. I'm really happy with mine, I'd forget the XDgear holster and if your want a OWB, the Blackhawk serpa cqc is very comfortable with the paddle.
I just upgraded my sights to the XS big dots, have not shot it but I'm happy with how it works in dry firing. I sent the slide only back to SA, it was 1-week door to door, and they removed the factory sights and installed the XS for less than I could buy the XS for themself.

Did you order the 4" or 5" XD-45 Compact? What slide finish and frame color did you order? I just bought a 2008 XD-45 Compact 4", stainless slide, black frame two-tone, with one 10 rd mag and one 13 rd mag. This is the very best XD version to own. Very nice shooter. Do Californians get two 10 rd short mags?

Wild Rice,
I'm in California and just picked up my XD45 Compact yesterday. It came with one 10 round short mag and one 10 round long mag. Mark |

You will enjoy the XD45 Compact. Just remember, the XD trigger is different than the 1911 but can be mastered with practice.

If you are limited to 10 rds, the XD-45 Compact 4" is a lot of power and capacity for its size. Those long 10 rd mags will not be very useful. It would have been better for you if SA shipped Cali guns with two short 10 rd mags. You should get some more short 10 rd mags and Pearce grip extensions, if you have big hands. I don't need the grip extensions for the XD-45 Compact, but I do use them for the smaller gripped XD-9 SubCompact.
I also have a Taurus PT145 Millennium Pro which has 10 rds of 45 in an even smaller package. I bought it since SA does not make an XD-45 SubCompact. |

Agreed. The plugged 13-round mag is just annoying to look at.
