I just recently purchased the exact gun you are talking about. I had to have the 45c Service in OD. No other color would do. I actually had to have my favorite gun dealer (GUN WORLD) order that color. They actually had to call four of their distributors in order to find one but I got the exact gun I wanted and couldn't be happier. I would tell you to wait if you really want the OD but if the price of the all black sounds better...go for that one. Which ever color you choose it is a very good and reliable weapon.

What does OD mean? I know it's a model number but wondering what is different about it.

its the color of the frame
its a dark green it stands for olive drab i belive

Personally I like the green frame of my P22 over the poop-green offered on the XD. If the XD was a bit darker...and less like what I leave in the toilet after some cheap mexican, it'd be sexy as hell.

I have not had a chance to shoot it yet. I had to get out in the boat this past weekend for a little fishing. Tough life isnt it? I am going to shoot it for the first time tomorrow.

Yeah, I kinda agree. I wanted the OD frame to go with my OD accented AR. I have all MAGPUL OD stuff on it. The greens didnt quite match. Not as dark as you stated. I did notice that Duracoat makes a MAGPUL green color. So......I decided to go for the deal and then duracoat it. I had already planned to multicam my 870 for turkey hunting, so why not duracoat the XD? Might even camo the XD, I definately have more options now.
