You could buy a H&K Tactical for $1100 Or drop an email to Springer Precision for his opinion. Sounds like a weak stricker spring or a the firing pin binding up some where.

I don't think so. I rented an xd45 and put 300 rounds through it no problems. Then I shot my buddies xd45, 400 rounds no problems. My buddy had 5ftf out of 300 rounds on mine though. I sent it to Springfield on Friday hopefully they will be able to help me out. I requested they replace it. We'll see, I'll post an update once I hear from them.

Hopefully you told them what ammo you normally use so they can best duplicate the conditions. Not that the XD should'nt eat most any JHP or FMJ round but....

First, you never did tell us what model XD 45 you have . . 5" Tac or 4" service, maybe the compact? MIght make some difference here.
This is an absolute long shot coming from someone who admittedly has little gunsmithing knowledge, but, I thought I would mention it . . . Have you checked the guide rod/recoil spring assembly? No chance its broken or binding in any way? If the slide isnt travelling all the way back it could cause this I assume. I have a brand new spare guide rod assembly for mine just in case of failure. Got it from Pistol Gear for $20 (XD 45 4" service model)

The only trouble I have had with my XD45 4" is with snap caps. The Traditions aluminum kind. The first one feeds and gun goes into battery and then the slide can't be racked unless I drop the mag. At first it was only one snap cap but now all six do the same thing. I'm looking for better snap caps.

It is a Service 4" model, no the rod or spring is not broken...I wish it were that easy. I thought it might have been the mag feed lips but after new mags it still had FTF issues.

Hi
Not imply but the limp wristing can do it. But I would use some ball ammo instead of the jhp your using. I have heard of a lot of people including me having the same problem with jhp. try some ball ammo then start selecting different sd ammo until you find the one that works. |

I have run 5 different brands of ammo through the gun and all but one had FTF issues. The one was really expensive HP's and I only had 25. With the ammount of people who use various different brands of rounds and all the articials in every gun mag saying they have 100% reliability I would think I wouldnt need to go through 20 different brands to find the one that works. If it wont work with cheap ball nor pricy JHP thats a problem.

Well I got the gun back on Saturday, very quick service. They tuned the extractor and polished the feed ramp. Then shot 200 Ball and 100 JHP through the gun no malfunctions. I'lll have to take it out to the range and see how it works hopefully the tune and polish fixed it.
