How many have had a Trigger Job done by S.A.

Was wondering how many people have had a trigger job completed by Springfield Armory on their Xd 45's. The pros, cons, and if it made an improvement or felt the same.
I saw a post earlier about a guy who got one but said it didn't make much difference than when it was stock.
I don't want to do it myself, so that is out of the question. Just looking for insight on if Springfield Armory is my best option.

It will be for the XD45 Tactical.

Thanks in advance,

I have heard that SA does a good job on their trigger work as well as other custom services they provide. However, their price and wait time is a lot more than some people will allow for.

Why not check out one of our forum sponsors who also do very high quality work on XD's (an other guns).

I suggest:

Springer Precision

Mr. Springer did a carry job on my XD and I consider that a very good choice. I'll be sending him a match barrel to fit eventually, too, so he's earned my return business.

Lakotah,

I was going to send my XDs to SA for work. Upon further reflection and input, I'll instead be sending them to Springer.

I have one 45 compact that I sent to SA for a trigger job. All I can say is wow! It is an awesome job. Very little pretravel, and nice reduced trigger pull, and very crisp. I am currently doing my 2nd 45 compact with Bob"s trigger bar and sear. As soon as it is done, I will let you know how the 2 compare

I know this is the .45 section..

I posted some pics in another thread of my XD-40, and one of them had the work shown that was done by SA concerning the trigger work I ordered. Now being that I work in a Glock filled industry, I have standards I have to meet, and they generally revolve around firearms with combat type characters, which is why I had the trigger work done.

When I played with a Glock (not a fan, but thats me), I noticed a few things about them. When it comes to the trigger issue, it felt noticebly shorter then the XD as far as Trigger Travel and reset point. My fingers are kind of long, and having a longer trigger pull, especially when trying to get rounds down range accurately in a timed setting, is a bit of a pain!

After fighting my way through and qualifying, that friday night I mailed it off to SA. They received it the following Tuesday. The Custom shop was very good about getting in touch with me, per the note I left in the box. I explained to them that this was a duty weapon, and time was an issue. They told me that their XD guys there were itching to do some work on it, as they have been sitting around with nothing to do, as not many XD's were being sent in for custom work. On thursday I got a email witha waiver they needed me to sign (authorizing the custom work), which I signed and faxed back an hour later.

Following the next week on Wednesday, I was given a tracking number for it being shipped back. I received it that following Friday. So, as for work time, depends on their workload, but they made a real effort to get it back to me (and they sent it back to me in a cute mini SA gun box, LOL). I am actually very pleased with how long it took them. I figured atleast 4 weeks.

As for the work itself... BIG DIFFERENCE! Yes, I can really tell that there is a huge difference. They set the pull at 3lbs, and trigger travel was reduced by well over 85%. The reset point is immediate now, and keeping ammo in the magazine is really hard to do, as the rapid rate of fire is just unbelievable! It is very smooth, and more so then on factory settings. It is still lifetime warenteed as I had an "authorized SA gunsmith" do the work. Price wise, I want to say was $120 or so.. but I cant remember as I had other things done as well, such as the extended mag release. But all together, very worth it.

I have a subcompact, and I should take some pics of the trigger differences between the two. The pics I have now show some of the screws they installed and other changes.

CountyDeputy,

Welcome to XD!!!

Sounds like you got some great work! Glad to hear of another non-Glock LEO.

I too need a trigger job for my duty gun - XD. What trigger job did you get done? Based upon the pull weight and immediate reset it sounds like a Competition Trigger job:
"Competition action job (Reduction of trigger pull with reduced overtravel & reset. Designed for competition) $ 195.00"

Does that sound right?

The "Combat action job (Reduction of trigger pull only. Suitable for self defense/carry.) $ 105.00" does not list any difference made to the reset.

What other work did you have done? What sights do you have?
