Thanks for taking the time to make this very useful video for all us XD owners. I am sure it will keep me from making many mistakes and losing springs and doing things wrong.

Yeah, I decided to put this together because I had completely taken mine down and when I put it back together I ended up breaking the grip safety spring. I might put together another one to cover the couple items I didn't go over in this series, namely the grip safety and the mag release.

Your vids helped me take my gun apart for the first time (and I installed new Canyon Creek springs). Thanks!

I think you did a very good job and you are to be congratulated. Most folks will want to go straight to the detailed disasembly of the slide, I believe that is number 3.
My only disagreement and it was provided more in the way of an editorial than a how to, was your position on the pros and cons (cons in your case) of refinishing the XD slide and internal parts. I have had multiple XD slides both NP3'd and Roguarded by Robar, internal parts included with absolutely no problems whatsoever. You made a blanket statement that the XD slide should never be refinished in hardchrome, etc. I am not aware of any problems that have resulted with fit and function of the XD slide subsequent to having it refinished in hardchrome, NP3, etc. providing the work was done by a competent gunsmith/finisher. And that includes the extractor in my XD45 which appears to have been black Roguarded in addition to the slide (I am not sure what Robar does with the extractor in the case of NP3 as I no longer have my XD that was NP3'd to check however in the case of Glocks, they do NP3 the extractor). Additionally, you indicated you saw no advantage to having an XD slide refinished, that stock black is fine with you. I am somewhat at odds with that statement as well because although the stock black does have Melonite impregnated into the base metal and therefore provides hardness and excellent rust resistence, the black oxide exterior finish wears rather easily when compared especially to hard chrome or NP3. And some folks just like a 2-tone look. As for the various after-market black polymer finishes, e.g., Roguard, Tripp CobraCoat, etc., they provode both additional wear resistance over the stock finish and lubricity. I would never fault anyone who wanted an extra level of performance/protection providing it has no impact on functionality. But overall, good job.
