Mine had a lot of factory goo, cleaned, to range, cleaned again.

I clean after every trip to the range, It takes more time to get the cleaning stuff out than it does to clean it so why not. A XD is a whole lot easier and faster to clean than either my Taurus or Ruger . . .

I fired 50 rounds of Magtech, then 400 rounds of WWB before I cleaned mine.

What's all this "goo" I keep hearing about? Both my xd's came with some thin oil in them, no goo.

Did they really ship them with goo, or are people just calling any factory lube goo?

Mine was full of what looked like packing grease. It wasn't *super* heavy, but it was def. there. Nothing some scrubbing couldn't fix, though.

I put 100 rounds of WWB through my .40 right out of the box. Then another 100 rounds of WWB. Then 50 of UMC in the rain.

I still havn't cleaned it.

I did hose the barrel out with Rem Oil, field strip it and wipe all the crud off, then wiped it down with Rem Oil.

Only had it since January.

Should I give it a through cleaning? Or is this sufficient?

I normally breakdown my Remington 870 3 times every duck season, or as needed. I'm fairly new to pistols.

When someone describes "Cleaning", we all have our methods and products we use.

Can any one say what cleaning method and with what products can help or hender the "Break in" period ?

I mostly use Dawn grease cutting soap and really hot water and brushes to scrub the slide and grip and then scrub the barrel with the brush and some Blue wonder gun cleaner left in it for about 20 min. then scrub with soap and hot water. Then I use my compressor to blow off the remaining water then lube.

What do you do? and when is the Break in period over ???

I use Hopp's #9 to take off all the "goo" from factory as well as clean the barrel. I use these wipes I got from a friend to clean the grip part. I then lube it up with Rem Oil (was recommended by a friend, not bad).
