I only did the shoot-clean-shoot dance on my FAL AR and AK. The pistols have barrels that are so easy to replace I don't even bother, it's a longevity thing.

I didn't clean my XD9 until after 1500 rounds. I'm still breaking it in.

I didn't really break in mine. I took it to the range and shot about 250 rounds through it. Took it home and cleaned all the factory goo off. That is about it.

Same here

I know I put at least 2K rounds through it while I was waiting for my CPL class date to arrive.

Its only a waste of time if a person feels its a waste of time. I value my firearm and treat it well so it will treat me well when I need it to save my life. There is no harm in respecting your protection.

My Kimber's manuel required a 400 round break-in, which I did at 150 rounds each time. Cleaned it after each shoot. Gun is flawless.

Doing the same with the XD Tactical. Not required by Springfield but as posted before, I respect my guns and always clean after use. So far very happy with performance.

Nothing wrong with taking care of your stuff, regardless of the many abuse tests printed.
