45 Service for CCW
I am thinking about trying to conceal carry my 45 service. I want to use an IWB holster. First of all, how hard is this really? I am 6' and about 200 pounds, and I usually where jeans and a tee shirt. what is the best holster for this? Also, is it possible to cut the handle of the service to chop it down to a compact? (I don't really want to do this but it seems really hard to conceal the service) any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sorry about the heading I ment XD not 1911.
I see no real problem concealing your service XD having the full sized grip is always the biggest factor over the smaller compact XDs Picking the right holster meaning a holster that fits you is very important. Having said this I admit to having a box full of holsters that I have tried. Also a really good quality gun belt is a must have. Last edited by happygunner; 03-19-2008 at 05:58 PM. I CCW my .45 service all the time. I have a don hume model h715m no. xd45-4 and carry small of back with jeans and a tee shirt. I am 5-8 170lbs and have no trouble with printing have I had anyone notice that I was carrying. It is possible you just have to have the right holster for the job and be comfortable wearing the holster and gun. I am sure there are better holsters for the job and I am sure others will be along shortly to key in on some of them.

I've got a .45 service and a 9sc. Both conceal very well with a Crossbreed Quickclip.

I like a pancake style: sits up a little higher and for me, this offers a little better cover with a t-shirt. Going to go have to look what brand mine is: looked at a bunch of them and picked the one that fit me the best.

You have a really nice looking site your holsters look like they are good to go. You folks ever think of making the Wanenmacher's Tulsa Arms Show? I only notice Rafters being the only real qualaty leather holster and belt vendor being there each show. |

I CC my XD45 Service using an Uncle Mikes Sidekick holster size #5 and have had no issues. I have seen people using the Crossbreed supertuck and De Santos (?) IWB holsters to carry the XD45 Service. Once you figure out the most comfortable spot to carry and the angle you are good to go.

I carry my XD45 Service in a CTAC with no problem. I do wear my trousers one size larger and that's all it takes to achieve a good carry situation.
