Hello, I just bought my first xd 5" tatical 45 are they a good gun and whats the big difference in a 45 acp and a 45 gap

It's a great gun. The GAP cartridge was born dead is dead.

GAP is a dying cartridge. More expensive and harder to find that .45 ACP.

You didnt mention witch 45 you bought,I hope the ACP.The 45Crap I mean Gap is a useless round made for a non-existent problem.

The gap allows a competitive shooter with small hands to shoot a gun that "makes major" (power factor...muzzle velocity x bullet weight), but in a gun with a smaller grip than a 45acp and less snappy recoil than a 40S&W. The gap is a gamers caliber. The 45gap is nothing more than a short 45acp. Since it is shorter, it cannot be loaded with enough powder to match the performance of 45acp +P ammo. Think of the 45gap as a 45 Short & Weak

One thing not mentioned yet.....with the XD you only get 9 rounds of GAP in the full size mag but with the ACP you get 13 rounds.
