CCW class is Saturday, New XD .45
I will be getting my new XD this week I hope Wednesday. My permit class is Saturday and I am a bit worried about using the XD. I am use to Da/SA weapons such as the FNP-40, which I own. I have not fired either weapon.
suggestions?

Try to get to a range Thursday or Friday and get a at least a box thru your chosen pistol before you take your class on Saturday.
If not, your XD would be a better choice since you won't have that decocker to mess with. I think your XD45 will have less recoil issues than that 40. Just my opinion. Good luck Bro....

I agree with 1lowlife. Take the XD to the range and shoot a box or two through it. Make sure you fire several quick successive shots to make sure you have good trigger control. Clean good then lubricate and you will be ready to go. I would also practice with same brand of ammo you are going to use during the CC class, that way you will have a good idea of where the XD is going to print with that first shot.
For my renewal I used my XD45 and for my son's renewal he used the XD9. Good luck and be safe!

I took mine Sunday with the XD45. They let me have some practice before I qualified and he pointed out a couple small bad habits. Taking those few practice shots really helped me get rid of the nervous feeling.

Not sure where you're located or what your specific requirements are, but when I took my course (what seems like a thousand years ago now) the instructor / range provided the weapons they preferred we shoot for qualifying. I still chose to shoot my 1911, but most everyone else shot the guns (.22 S&W revolvers or Ruger Mark II's) provided. You might want to call and inquire as to what the teacher's protocol is. Just a thought.

they offer guns for people to use, I prefer using my own which is acceptable. did some checking we will be shooting 50 rounds for the class.
should be good to go after that.
