Question I'm going to do it....dehorn the safety plunger

Ok guys I've done the research and I've talked to people who have done it. I'm going to attempt to shave off the excess safety plunger on my XD45c. On the other XDs I have used the plunger didn't stick out nearly as far as it does on my XD45c. The other XDs I have used never bothered my but my finger actually hurts like mad after a range session with this particular gun. I'm thinking of using an exacto knife to make the first shallow pass and then using some 600 grit emery paper to finish the job. I'm just trying to get the plunger down a bit while being careful as to not over cut. Any advice out there other than go slow and cut carefully?

this contributes precisely nothing to the actual discussion, and i sincerely apologize in advance for it, but does "dehorning the safety plunger" sound somewhat dirty to anyone else?

once again, I'm sorry, but just had to ask.

lab

Before you do that, try a moving your finger up the trigger. I had the same issue with my sc until I figured it out. (I always placed my finger on the bottom of every trigger I pulled.) I'm actually shooting better with my finger higher and it does not pinch anymore.

I have moved to a higher finger position but the one section of my finger just takes a beating. I actually have a well formed "groove" in the pad of my finger for an hour after I'm done shooting and my finger pad is either sore, numb, or both.

I'll try and get a pic for you. This mod is very similar to what some of the Glock guys have done. I'm trying to make the safety plunger a little more flush especially at the most noticeable bend in the trigger face. That is the worst spot.

I'm right there with ya! I think it's related to the Emergency Inflation Tube that Otto the Autopilot had on Airplane.

If you're talking about the trigger safety you'll most likely end up with a non functioning firearm, good luck.
