I carry my XD-40SC but for competition and practice in my XD-45ACP I have recently switched to lead bullets and reloading. I have been reloading for 40S&W for about two years know and recent got the dies and components I needed for reloading 45ACP. If you load them down a bit in velocity you can get the cowboy action bullets (slightly softer alloy) pretty cheap and they work great. If you want full power loads get the slightly harder but more expensive alloys. I just worked up my reloading costs and using the range brass I have been picking up for free I am loading 45ACP with 200gr lead bullets for about $6 a box of 50rds. That is all current prices, I just bought all the components within the last three weeks. Just and idea, if you have desire to reload it can save you some money in the end if you shoot enough to cover the initial cost of the reloading equipment. I have loaded about 17,000 rds on my Dillon 650 in the past two years and have more than broke even on the cost of my setup.

Rambling

I reload my own rounds and make 1k rounds for around 120-140$. I shoot IDPA and USPSA every weekend so I wouldn't be able to afford it any other way.

I shoot the blazer brass or the winchester FMJ at walmart for practice. I carry Black talons.

On a side note I also work in the Avation business I am an Avionics Tech at Gulfsream Aerospace. Weird huh

Ive been shooting Winchester and Blazer Brass. That will come to an end soon when I collect enough brass to start reloading myself.
