i called the cops my self and started to provide medical care to the lady and my stupid dog cops show up and tell me i did a great job we talked about what i shot it with and then i walked them to the yote and show them what the shocks did and what a bloody mess damn near cut him in half dow came out and asked me if i had a hunting liscence and i showed it to them and they took the yote for testing to see if it was rabid cops recovered both rounds and i wasnt ticketed so all in all a good day |

You need a license to kill coyotes? I can't believe you'd need one for your situation but here we can kill them anytime.

Great storry I agree, but...
Ive shot ALOT of animals and have a hard time believe that 2 rounds almost tore it in half. Why would DOW request a hunting permit for a self defense shooting of a wild animal?

In Colo you have to have a small game license to shoot any varmits. Just state law. Although self defense may be ok, I am sure do to the fact he did it just reduced the paperwork for the goose cop.

Ive shot them with a .308 and i can promise it does alot more damage than a .40 and it dont tear them apart. It isnt fur friendly i agree but I think some exageration must have been used in this tale.

Now now, we must be nice... let the fishermen tell their tales and let the hunters tell their's. I don't see where the 40 came in the story... all I read was an XD.... anyway they were probably handloads at +p++p+p+ magnum powder charge... you know.. like a hand held howitzer? maybe it was the XD Desert Eagle .50?

If there wasn't a triple axis backflip hatchet attack involved I don't believe it.
I personally would handled that situation differently... I would of called for air support and had my dog lay down cover fire while I flanked the target shot the woman in the leg.... Because of the inherent ballistics properties of any handgun round it would of over penetrated with the speed of a thousand lighting bolts and into the yote.
