Who reloads 45 ACP?

I'm a reloader and I just got my first handgun XD 45 5" tactical. Well I've already started gathering used brass that I've shot and I've picked up at the range. My question is anyone here ever reload 45acp with a 300 grain bullet? I had a crazy thought that it would be cool to throw some 300 grain bullets at metal plates and wood block even if the bullets only fly at 700 fps

I've only reloaded 200gr lswc (my XD won't feed them) and 230gr lrn. I'd be interested to hear your results.

300g is to much for 45 auto in my book. I reload 230g Rainier bullets 4.0g of Bullseye. Roughly about 850fps last time I crono'd my load.

Wanna throw 300 gr bullets?
Buy a different caliber designed to throw 300gr bullets.

I buy my bullets from Montana Gold, they are excellent quality.
My tactical will FEED the LSWC but the chamber leads-up badly after 50 rounds so I no longer shoot lead.

I shoot 200gr bullets now, very smooth in the Tactical.

Would mind PMing me some of your reload recipes? OOh and I know I should shoot 300's from a different gun which is why I'm still saving for a 460 S&W magnum But in the mean time I wanna push 300's if its possible

How much is brass worth? 1-2 dollars? I don't reload as of yet...not sure if I ever plan on it

I can save it for someone local.

Once fired 45acp is going for about $50/1K.
300gr bullets in the 45acp, maybe, but not @ 700fps. The bullet is almost as long as the available powder space. I would recommend sticking w/ available bulelts & data. A 230gr bullet is no light wt. There is data available for 260gr from SPeer. Me, I stick pretty mucj to 200gr & 230gr.

I reload 200gr cast RNFP rounds using 5.4 grains of Winchester 231. Excellent results in the XD45 service.
