New thumb safety?

Springfield's website states that there will be a thumb safety in 2008, but the link takes you to the specs for the 4" service. Anyone know anything about this? Will it be ambidextrous?

Yes, it is ambi.
The XD45 Service is the first (currently only) model to have the manual safety as an option. In time, it will become an option on other XD's.

Springfield said the thumb safety will only be available on 4" & 5" all black XD 45 's. They did say if there was significant interest they would look at going into other calibers / frame sizes.

Nope.

All this has been covered in at least 3 other threads.

Very old news to those that come out of the cave at least once a month.
