The XD bug is back
Hey everyone,
Well, I'm starting to look at XDs again and I don't even know why! I am committed to adding an AK first, but it's really looking like another XD will be on the way, but I wanted some opinions, cause I'm not sure which route to take. I've got a service as the sig states, in all black (kinda wanted bi-tone but I was impatient and the local retailers only had black). This was also before the compact came out. After handling a friend's compact (and wearing it a little bit), I really really like it. I've also been starting to take a few SHTF precautions and preparations. One of which I have started and want to contine with is (at least a few) high cap mags. I don't want to deal with the sleeves for a compact, so having 2 guns makes sense! I'm really torn on size and would like some opinions. For a SHTF pistol, would you prefer a service or a tactical? Do you think the extra inch would be that beneficial? Personally, I just like the look of the service better, but having something I don't have already (longer sight radius) helps me justify it. If it seems the 5" would be better, I'll probably chop the grip in my service and keep it as my EDC and promote the tactical to nightstand/SHTF duty (probably upgraded with a fancy light), and obviously to have something else to shoot at the range. If it seems most feel a service is just as good, I'll probably just buy a compact for EDC, and keep the service for, again, nightstand/SHTF. I'm curious on opinions of different colors and combinations, but I'll save that for the future after figuring out what size is best.

I have a service model XD45 and love it, but I do want a tactical model too. I think either way, you can't lose.

FYI...You do not need to use the sleeves for the high cap mags to work in the compact. A 13 round mag without the sleeve will not "overtravel" into the grip.

Bi-Tone Compact Tactical. All your mags except the 10rnd shorties will be interchangeable, and you'll have the bi-tone you originally wanted. Plus later when you dump the Service for a Compact every mag will be interchangeable.
