Lead loads out of the XD-45

I am thinking of going to the indoor range with my "NEW" XD45. Should I put FMJ's thru this prior to shoooting lead to brak it in (Like Kimber Suggest), or will I be okay just putting 50-100 200gr SWC'c at about 950pfs out of it??

Thanks

Terry

As a general rule, the XD 45's do NOT like LSWC.

I got lucky, mine eats em thousands at a time.

Recommend sending FMJ down the pipe for 500 or so and then check it out with the swc stuff.

I've never shot lead only, just copper jacketed Round nose, about 800+ WWB and mostly Blazer Brass and a box of JHP, no malfunctions.

I have a XD-9 with ghost rings that I have had for 3 years! Nothing but SWC's thru it!! I have 8,550 rounds logged on this pistol with several new springs and it shoots a 3-4" group at 25yds off a pistol rest!

Both 40's & 45's eat lead

I have been shooting IPSC with a Tact 45 & 40 and both eat the lead I load without even a hairball coughed up yet. Just clean the darn puppies after each shootinmg spree and you will have only the problem of saving $, that jacketed stuff is for bg's, not paper or steel.
I load 40's and 45's for about $85 a thousand when I save brass I pickup at the range. Bought a Lee pro 1000 loader and it'll pump out over 300 per hour and you can tune em to the gun, fast & hot isn't neccesirly what works best, especially in competition shooting.

Well I'm one of those who has 2 xd45 that just do not like lswc. I can shoot lead round nosed or flat point but semi wad cutters it just doesn't like. I have had very good luck with 185 and 200 grain moly coated round nose flat points.

In my XD45, I can shoot 200 gr. leaded round nose without any problems, but the swc does not work. I have asked SA and they told me the XD45 was not designed to shoot swc. If they work in your pistol, consider yourself lucky.

Mine too. It eats every JHP I have tried & every lead bullets EXCEPT the 200grLSWC. I've gone to a 200grTC or 230grLRN for all of my 45acp practice now.

Well I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. My XD 45 Tactical has right at 6700 rounds of lead 200g SWC without a hiccup. I must be double lucky, my XD 45 Service has gobbled up 8400 rounds of the same fodder.

You just made prettier holes than those shooting round nose.
