XD 45 Compact Mistake vs XD 40sc?
I am a newbie when it comes to having my CPL and I purchased a new XD 45 compact. I have been to the range a few time and shoot it well, but it seems too big to carry?
Is there anyone on the forum like me that thinks the XD 40 SC would of been a better choice but have the XD 45 compact? To carry I decided on the Smart Carry pouch which I like, but I have carried only a few times. Any advice out there from anybody? |

are you talking about the fanny pack? i hope not. that just screams "IM CARRYING" but i think the compact is perfect for carry for me but i have heard people wish they had a smaller 3in. the only difference is the barrell and that is in your pants anyway...

I have both but added the Pierce extensions to the SC. With the extensions, there is really no carry difference except weight.
I'm slowly beginning to like the feel of the C over the SC. If I could only own one, it would be the C.

You made a good choice, the Compact 45 is the way to go vs the 40SC. I had a 40SC, but prefer the 45C for range shooting and carry. As already mentioned, no real difference in size between the two. I suspect you'll shoot the 45 better anyway since the 40 has much more muzzle flip (unless you are already experienced shooting the 40 S&W rnd).
Enjoy the 45C

pbidwe,
What is your body size / frame like? Where have you tried carrying your gun? I only ask as I carry a XD 45 Service IWB around the 1:00 to 2:00 position without issue.

There's no universal answer to your question. I carry an XD40sc. I tried carrying my XD9service once and the barrel was too long. You'll notice it when you sit down. If 4 inch barrels were easy to carry, why are there so many 3 inch barrelled guns in the market?

I've got a 45c tactical in an IWB and even I don't know I'm carrying it! I'm sitting and it's really not visible. There's two things to my credit, one I'm really well hung

I've been carrying my XD45C at 2:00 in a KD IWB for about two weeks now and the only problem I have is that I think I need to get pants a little larger. Most of the time I forget it's even there. I'm around customers all day and no one seems to notice including some officers that frequently come in.

Yay for FAG BAGS (Fast Action Gun). I still wouldn't ever wear one.
