I just went to the range tonight and shot my new XD.45 COMPACT. I know you all are going to think that it's the shooter (so would I). Well I also shot my Glock30 my XD-9 and My Glock26. All on the money. I also shot it from the stand, and it's off 3-4" EVERYTIME at about 20-25' away.. I just want to know if any of you have had ANY problems with the sights on your XD's? If so what and what did you do? I do not want to have to send the gun to Springfield to get sighted. I think it is crazy I have to pay for shipping both ways (about $50). Or how can I get Springfield to pay for the shipping? Any info would be GREAT!

What is the sized of your groups at 20 feet? (is it less than 3 inches?) I ask only to rule out if it is a shooter error or a mechanical error.
Is the group off by 3-4 inches laterally (left/right) or is it an up/down deviation? There are solutions for both. However... Recommend you seek an experience shooter (like a certified range master or firearms instructor) to help you analyze your shot group. You may not need to do anything but shoot the gun and get more familiar with it. I recently brought an XD-45 Tactical. It shot point of aim at 25 yrds and 50yds using ball ammo. No issues. |

Ask another experienced shooter to shoot it and see how they do. If it's a warranty issue, SA will cover shipping both ways. You have to pay for the shipping to SA, but they will reimburse you.

EVERY gun is slightly different, even among same brands the trigger stroke is minutely different among different guns. I have to readjust slightly between XD45Compact and Tactical and XD9Tactical, 1911 Govt. and Commander. Takes me a mag or two to get "re-acclimated" to the gun.

The sights are adjustable for right and left. If you are convinced the sights are off simply tap the in to alignment. Guns are test fired for function and to provide a spent case for those state that require one be on file. They are not necessarily fired for alignment.

It could be you, every shooter shoots their pistols differently. A 3"-4" shift right could be you jerking the trigger. Has another shooter tried it? If it is the pistol, simply drift the sight alittle to the left.

When I got my XD .40 Service, I shot a couple of inches to the right as well.
Turns out I was pressing the gun with my thumbs instead of letting them ride along because I wasn't used to the snappy recoil of the .40. Absolutely have someone else who is good shoot it. In all the time I've shot high quality fixed sight combat handguns, I've never seen one that actually was off, it was always the shooter. And, holding the gun on a stand can affect the way your eye lines up with the sights as well. If someone else shoots it at POI, then just look at your grip and do dry firing, watch where the front sight goes. A new gun can throw you for a loop!

I have the owner of the shop take it home for the weekend and he is going to let me know. To my knowledge he is a dam good shooter. So I will trust his word. I had a PT111 Pro 9mm and the gun was so off at 25 feet if you aimed at the tarket you would totally miss the paper..(lol) Was not me, but the gun. So what did I do, I melted the gun. Mind you the gun jammed up on me a few times needed ALOT of oil on the slide. Melting the gun was my way of NEVER buying another semi auto from them again.
Like I said before I REALY hope it is me. But after my PT problem I though it was me for a little while. So now I think the worst. |
