Been away, any complaints?

I've been away from the boards for almost a year and a half. At that time, the xd45 was fairly new and the buzz was positive. However, it was too early at that time for any major issues to be found. I'm back in the market for a handgun, and want to see if the buzz is still positive.

Have there been any troubles/complaints with the xd45?

I've been fairly active on the boards for 5yrs now and I've been especially following the comments on the XD45. I have seen no major manufacturer problems on fit/finish. There are the typical user problems with sight removal/ installation, tight mag springs, failure to feed specific PD JHP rounds with some guns (but not others), etc., but no major defects that I've seen.

I've bought 3 XD45s over the last 2yrs, if that tells you anything

Never regretted my decision. I don't think the XD is the finest .45 auto on the market, but for what it is, it is a no brainer. For me, it comes down to fit. No double stack .45 feels as good in my hand. I know that is subjective, but that's what opinions are. So now you can add another epinion to the pile.

My only complaint is due to me being a lefty. I wish the slide release was longer, or the after market would make one. As a lefty though, I am used to living in a right handed world.

My main complaint is that new M1911s are over-featured, over-priced, and STILL require too much tuning, accurizing, and reliability testing. My XD-45 5" Compact was good to go right out of the box.

The only other complaint is that XD slides and trigger guards are bulky (especially on the SubCompacts), making it difficult (but not impossible) to find a good fitting shoulder holster.
