Yes the G30 feels "thicker" in my hands too, but the XD45C feels much better.
There are many threads with pro/con comparing these two. The two facts which come to mind are the fully supported chamber for the XD (not so with the G), and the XD is safe with lead bullets (if you reload) due to standard barrel rifling (not so with the G). However, the biggest point for me is the grip angle. The XD has a typical 1911 grip angle and is very comfortable in my hands. I never could get used to the G grip angle, although some folks don't have this problem

Personal preference. I have both, but prefer the XD because it just "feels" better in my hands. Others say the same thing about the Glock. You really need to hold/shoot both band decide on your own.

thanks
I have shot both am very coftrable with them both might be a bit hard for me to conceal the g 30 due to its thickness more wondering about long term reliability

I have an XD 45 Compact.
My thoughts: The XD, to me, has a somewhat 1911-esque feeling trigger. Crisp and sure. I personally like having a grip safety. Some say that it's not necessary but I feel that if the gun is being deliberately fired, my hand will definitely be squeezing the grip safety. The XD has a chambered round indicator and a striker status indicator. Both can be checked by sight or feel. Some say that these things are "just more things that can break," but they're engineered very simply so they probably never will. The Compact can serve as either a compact with the 10-round mag or a service sidearm with the 13-rounder. I mainly just use the 10-rounder and carry it as a compact. Hope this helps in your decision. |

I shot a G23, G30 an M&P45 and my XD45c before choosing the XD. The XD felt like my hand was used in the mold! A few other things, with the Glocks I always shot high and couldnt get used the the angle, also the Glocks seemed to kick more and IMO the XD pushes and I was able to get back on target easier! Both are excellent firearms but with the angle, thickness and all around grip feel, the choice was an easy one for me!
Also with a 4 year old around the more safeties in my polymer the better, and the clocking and chamber indicator make it really easy for my wife to recognize when "ready to fire".

The glock 30 is thicker but it's not harder to conceal than the xd I don't think you can go wrong with either gun however the glock is easier to work on and detail strip for cleaning and if you do need to replace or repair parts you can get them and do it yourself without sending your gun back to the company like you do with the xd if not for the part availability and being able to do all your own work it's a great gun shoots good and feels good. As far as accuracy goes for me after the short break in I shoot glocks and xd about the same just takes practice. I have had feed problems with the xd where I have not with the glocks. |

Either gun will be stone reliable and be a very good carry weapon. I carry my Glock 30 90% of the time and find it be very concealable. You can't make a bad choice with either gun.

I have the XD. It is a great shooting gun and feels good in your hands. Went to the range on New Years Eve and let another guy shoot the XD and he shot it better than the 9 mm he was shooting. I recommend the XD 45 Compact.
